Toolinna Cove, growing in shallow soil pockets on the tops of coastal limestone cliffs.

Description

A coastal species 100–300 mm high with two to three smooth leaves 80–150 mm long by 4–6 mm wide and up to five colourful golden-yellow and reddish-brown flowers 15–25 mm across.

Distinguishing Features

It is related to Beautiful Donkey Orchid (Diuris pulchella) but has reddish-brown rather than mauve marked flowers, a more prominent labellum midlobe and a much more easterly distribution. It is also possibly related to Green Range Donkey Orchid (D. littoralis) with which it sometimes grows but has smaller flowers and a shorter, broader labellum midlobe.
