Coorow to Kalbarri, growing in pale yellow sandy soils in shrublands.

Description
A northern species 150–250 mm high with a smooth heart-shaped, ground-hugging leaf 12–20 mm long by 10–18 mm wide and a single dull greenish-yellow and purplish-red flower 3–5 mm across.
Distinguishing Features
It is distinguished from the related Glossy-leafed Hammer Orchid (Drakaea elastica) by its scarcely glossy, dark green leaf, more evenly coloured labellum with a narrower head-like top and more northerly distribution.
