Ferdinand von Mueller in Fragmenta Phytographiae Australiae 4(28): 131 (1864) as Sturmia habenarina

Distribution and Habitat

Edkins Range and upper Prince Regent River in the north Kimberley, growing in seasonally wet savannah woodland where it is often associated with seepage areas. Also found in the Northern Territory, Queensland, New South Wales, New Guinea and Indonesia.

Description

An uncommon species 200–600 mm high with two to three smooth leaves 100–250 mm long by 20–40 mm across produced on a squat pseudobulb and an erect scape producing up to 22 variably green, greenish-brown or brown-red flowers 10–12 mm across.
