Distribution and Habitat

Roleystone to west of York, growing in gravelly soils in forests. The species does not appear to require summer fire to flower.

Description

A late autumn-early winter flowering species 60–120 mm high with an often red backed leaf 6–20 mm long by 5–10 mm wide and up to two (rarely three) white, dull green and red flowers 7–10 mm across.

Distinguishing Features

It has in the past been placed with Common Bunny Orchid (Eriochilus dilatatus subsp. multiflorus but has a smaller, often hairy, red backed leaf and a later flowering period.
