Distribution and Habitat

Mt Lesueur to Israelite Bay, growing in sandy, sandy-clay and lateritic soils in forests, woodlands and seasonally wet flats. The species rarely flowers in unburnt bushland but is common in the season following a summer fire.

Description

An attractive species 150–600 mm high with a smooth tubular leaf 120–500 mm long by 3–8 mm wide and up to 60 sweetly-scented, green and white flowers 3–4 mm across.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from the related Scented Mignonette Orchid (Microtis alboviridis) by its larger white, rather than greenish-white to greenish-yellow flowers and usually more prominently bi-lobed labellum.
