Ferdinand von Mueller in Fragmenta Phytographiae Australiae 5(40): 200 (1866) as Pogonia holochila

Distribution and Habitat

North Kimberley, from Beverley Springs Station homestead, Prince Regent River, Mount Fyfe, Mitchell Plateau and Theda Station, growing in humus-rich to loamy soil or leaf litter in monsoonal vine thickets and also occasionally, savannah grassland. Also found in the Northern Territory, Queensland and Papua New Guinea.

Description

A distinctive species with a broad, pleated leaf 50–180 mm long by 40–80 mm wide , which appears following flowering and up to six short-lived, pink, cream and greenish flowers 25–30 mm across. The labellum is pink to mauve.
