Distribution and Habitat

Roleystone to east of Mt Cooke and east of Margaret River to Albany, growing in sandy or lateritic soils in forests and woodlands.

Description

A late flowering species 60–140 mm high with a broad, smooth leaf 15–30 mm long by 7–10 mm wide and one (rarely two) inverted, greenish-yellow and red flowers 8–11 mm across. The leaf is usually withered at the time of flowering.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from the related Sandplain Duck Orchid (Paracaleana dixonii) by its smaller, darker coloured flowers and southerly distribution. From Little Duck Orchid (P. disjuncta) it is distinguished by its larger flowers.
