Distribution and Habitat

East of Margaret River to Israelite Bay, growing in sandy soils in forests, woodlands and shrublands. The species is also found in South Australia and Victoria.

Description

A wide spread species 50–130 mm high with a broad, smooth leaf 10–20 mm long by 4–7 mm wide and one (rarely two) inverted, greenish-yellow and red flowers 7–9 mm across.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from Brockman’s Duck Orchid (Paracaleana brockmanii) by its smaller flowers and where they occur together, earlier flowering period. From the similar Slender-leafed Duck Orchid (P. gracilicordata) it is distinguished by its broader boat-shaped leaves and sandy habitat away from granite.
