Distribution and Habitat

Bindoon to Wellstead, growing in sandy soils in forests, woodlands and shrublands.

Description

A wide spread species 70–110 mm high with a broad, smooth leaf 10–25 mm long by 5–8 mm wide and one (rarely two) inverted, greenish-yellow and red flowers 6–8 mm across.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from the related Flying Duck Orchid (Paracaleana nigrita) by its longer, narrower, less prominently humped labellum. Where the two species grow together it is in early flower when P. nigrita is in late flower.
