Distribution and Habitat

Mingenew to Condingup, growing in sandy soils in forests, woodlands and shrublands and more rarely in moss swards on granite rocks.

Description

A common species 50–150 mm high with a broad, smooth leaf 10–30 mm long by 7–11 mm wide and one (rarely two) inverted, greenish-yellow and red flowers 6–8 mm across.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from the related Hort’s Duck Orchid (Paracaleana hortiorum) by its shorter, broader, more prominently humped labellum. Where the two species grow together it is in late flower when P. hortiorum is in early flower.
