Description
Prasophyllum species have a smooth tubular leaf, a smooth flower stem and up to 100 sweetly fragrant flowers in an erect spike. The dull-coloured flowers are often tinged or streaked with green, brown and purple. Prasophyllum flowers are similar to those of Mignonette Orchids (Microtis) but are inverted (labellum above rather than below the column) and are generally larger and more colourful. The leaf of Prasophyllum species is also green or purple with a reddish base rather than wholly green or yellowish-green.
