Distribution and Habitat

Darlington to Armadale, growing in lateritic soils in forests and woodlands, flowering best in the season following summer fire.

Description

A robust orchid 400–1800 mm high with a smooth tubular leaf 450–800 mm long by 8-12 mm wide and up to 60 greenish-yellow to greenish-brown flowers 10–14 mm across.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from the related King Leek Orchid (Prasophyllum regium) by its shorter, less abruptly upcurved labellum, earlier flowering period and more northerly distribution.
