A common, winter flowering species 150–400 mm high with a smooth tubular leaf 100–350 mm long by 1.5–3 mm wide and up to 18 green and white, red-striped flowers 6–8 mm across.
It is distinguished from the related Scented Autumn Leek Orchid (Prasophyllum sp. ‘early’) by its more colourful, sweetly-scented flowers and later flowering period. When flowers have finished they develop a pinkish appearance resembling those of Rare Leek Orchid (Prasophyllum sp. ‘Brookton Highway’) which has a much later flowering period and occurs in different habitat.
