Originally Described by

William Nicholls in The Victorian Naturalist 65: 268, & fig. (1948) as Prasophyllum australe var. sargentii

Distribution and Habitat

Kalbarri to Israelite Bay, growing in sandy and sandy-clay soils in woodlands and shrublands. The species predominantly flowers in the season following summer fire but can also be found in areas that have had light grading with plants commonly seen along graded roadsides and fire breaks.

Description

A predominantly inland species 200–600 mm high with a smooth tubular leaf 150–250 mm long by 5–10 mm wide and up to 35 greenish-brown, purplish-brown or golden-brown and white flowers 9–11 mm across.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from Fringed Leek Orchid (Prasophyllum fimbria) by its taller flower scapes, smaller labellum and north-easterly and easterly distribution.
