A rare species 200–300 mm high with a smooth tubular leaf 100–180 mm long by 1.5–3 mm wide and up to 10 green, white and reddish-pink, self-pollinating flowers 4–5 mm across.
It is often confused with Autumn Leek Orchid (Prasophyllum parvifolium). However, it has a much later flowering period with plants in flower and bud in early September when P. parvifolium is finished. It is also confined to seasonally wet flats whereas P. parvifolium prefers better drained soils in forests, woodlands and shrublands.
