Distribution and Habitat

Jarrahdale to Israelite Bay, growing in sandy, sandy-clay and lateritic soils in forests, woodlands and shrublands. In higher rainfall areas it is common on granite outcrops. The species does not require a summer fire to flower.

Description

An autumn flowering species 150–350 mm high with a smooth tubular leaf 120–300 mm long by 1.5–3 mm wide and up to 12 strongly scented green and white flowers 6–8 mm across. Populations east of the Stirling Range have slightly more colourful flowers and a generally later flowering period to those further west and require further study.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from the related Autumn Leek Orchid (Prasophyllum parvifolium) by its generally less-colourful, unpleasantly-scented flowers and earlier flowering period.
