Distribution and Habitat

East of Northampton to east of Madura, growing in sand and sandy-clay soil in woodlands and shrublands. The species is also found in South Australia.

Description

A short statured species 100–150 mm high with six to nine cauline leaves 30–50 mm long by 5–8 mm wide and up to five semi translucent, green and white or reddish-brown and white flowers 8–12 mm across. The species previously known as Varicoloured Banded Greenhood (Pterostylis sp. ‘Eyre’) is now considered a form of this species.

Distinguishing Features

Pterostylis arbuscula is differentiated from P. sanguinea by its more inland distribution, generally shorter height and fewer, generally smaller flowers.
