Distribution and Habitat

Jurien Bay to Dunsborough, growing in sandy and sandy-clay soils in woodlands and shrublands. The species was at one time common in Pine plantations near Perth but, as most have now been harvested, is now rare in that habitat.

Description

A common species 60–100 mm high with three to five cauline leaves 20–40 mm long by 3–5 mm wide and one (rarely two) translucent, brown to reddish-brown (more rarely green) and white flowers 10–15 mm across.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from the related Kalbarri Shell Orchid (Pterostylis microglossa) by its larger flowers and southerly distribution.
