Distribution and Habitat

Woodanilling to Israelite Bay, growing in sandy-clay and clay soils in woodlands and shrublands.

Description

A small species 80–120 mm high with four to five cauline leaves 10–15 mm long by 4–5 mm wide and one (rarely two) translucent, brown to reddish-brown (more rarely green) and white flowers 8–10 mm across.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from the related Brown-veined Shell Orchid (Pterostylis aspera) by its smaller flowers and more easterly distribution inland from the coast.
