Distribution and Habitat

Brookton Highway to Lancelin, growing in sandy soils in woodlands and shrublands. The species readily colonises pine plantations north of Perth.

Description

A common species 70–200 mm high with four to six leaves forming a ground-hugging or ascending basal rosette 20–32 mm across, four to six cauline leaves and one (rarely two) translucent, green and white flowers 5–6 mm across.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from the closely related Murdoch Snail Orchid (Pterostylis ectypha) by its shorter stature, fewer, smaller rosette leaves, fewer, smaller cauline leaves and squared off tips to the lateral sepals.
