Distribution and Habitat

Manjimup to east of Frankland with a disjunct population at Myalup, growing in sandy and sandy-clay soils in forests and woodlands.

Description

A geographically restricted species 250–350 mm high with a loose, ascending rosette of leaves 12–40 mm across, two to six cauline leaves and one (rarely two) translucent, brown-marked, green and white flowers 10–12 mm across.

Distinguishing Features

It is similar in morphology to Heberle’s Bird Orchid (Pterostylis heberlei) and may be a variant of that species, differing mainly in its more inland distribution. From other members of the Pterostylis barbata complex it is distinguished by its large flowers and very long points to the sepals.
