Distribution and Habitat

Cheynes Beach to Cape Arid, growing in sandy soils in coastal woodlands and shrublands. In some areas the species is common in shallow soil pockets on granite outcrops.

Description

A coastal species 20–100 mm high with four to six leaves forming a ground-hugging or ascending basal rosette 10–28 mm across, three to four cauline leaves and one (rarely two) translucent, green and white flowers 4.5–5.5 mm across.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from Eastern Granite Snail orchid (Pterostylis voigtii), which also grows in shallow soil pockets on granite outcrops, by its prominently flared petals and longer lateral sepals.
