Distribution and Habitat

Porongurup to Eyre, growing in sandy, sandy-clay and clay soils in woodlands and shrublands.

Description

A short growing species 30–100 mm high with five to nine leaves forming a ground-hugging basal rosette 10–18 mm across, one to two cauline leaves and one (rarely two) translucent, dull green to brownish-green and white flowers 4–5 mm across.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from the closely related Brittle Snail Orchid (Pterostylis timothyi) by its shorter stature and generally more bloated flowers. Otherwise they are very similar and may represent forms of the same species.
