Distribution and Habitat

Denmark to Walpole, growing in shallow soil pockets on granite outcrops.

Description

An uncommon species 200–300 mm high with a loose, ascending rosette of leaves 16–40 mm across, two to six cauline leaves and one (rarely two) translucent, brown-marked, green and white flowers 10–12 mm across.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from the related Bird Orchid (Pterostylis barbata) by its larger flowers, longer dorsal sepal, longer lateral sepals which spread out laterally and longer hairs on the labellum.
