Distribution and Habitat

Geraldton to Israelite Bay, growing in sandy, sandy-clay and lateritic soils in forests, woodlands and shrublands. In inland areas the species inhabits shallow soil pockets on granite outcrops.

Description

A common species 300–900 mm high with eight to 16 cauline leaves 5–50 mm long by 7–10 mm wide and up to five translucent, green and white or brown and white flowers 15–25 mm across. While vegetative plants have a ground hugging basal rosette of leaves, flowering plants have just cauline leaves.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from other Pterostylis species by its jug-like flowers with prominently downcurved lateral sepals.
