A common near coastal species 50–120 mm high with four to seven leaves forming a ground-hugging or ascending basal rosette 20–40 mm across, two to four cauline leaves and one (rarely two) translucent, green and white flowers 7–10 mm across.

It is distinguished from Red-sepaled Snail Orchid (Pterostylis erubescens) by its larger flowers and less prominently flared petals.
