Distribution and Habitat

Perth to Augusta and eastwards to Hopetoun, growing in sandy or, more rarely, rocky soils in woodlands, often adjacent to seasonally wet areas.

Description

An attractive species 200–500 mm high with a narrow, smooth leaf 100–200 mm long by 3–8 mm wide and up to eight lilac-blue flowers 20–30 mm across. The backs of the sepals have a reddish tinge.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from the related Blue Lady Orchid (Thelymitra crinita) by its lilac-blue flowers and narrow leaf.
