Distribution and Habitat

Meelup to Israelite Bay, predominantly growing on coastal granite outcrops with rare, scattered occurrences on inland granite outcrops northeast of Esperance.

Description

A coastal species 100–200 mm high with a narrow, smooth leaf 70–150 mm long by 8–12 mm wide and up to eight pale blue or white self-pollinating flowers 18–30 mm across. Plants found at the western end of its distribution are white flowered while those found elsewhere are blue flowered.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from the related Scarp Sun Orchid (Thelymitra frenchii) by its larger, more numerous flowers and coastal distribution.
