Distribution and Habitat

North-west of Walpole with a disjunct population near Denbarker, growing in sandy-clay and lateritic soils amongst low shrubs, particularly in areas adjacent to granite outcrops.

Description

A late flowering species 150–350 mm high with a broad, smooth leaf 60–150 mm long by 20–35 mm wide and up to 12 brown and orange, cinnamon-scented flowers 30–50 mm across.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from the related Star Orchid (Thelymitra stellata) by its prominently warty column with two small projections, more southerly distribution and later flowering period.
