Distribution and Habitat

Melville to Augusta and eastwards to Esperence, growing seasonally wet flats.

Description

A late-flowering species 150–400 mm high with a narrow, smooth leaf 140–300 mm long by 5–10 mm wide and up to 18 sweetly scented, blue, purple, pink or white flowers 25–30 mm across.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from the related Scented Sun Orchid (Thelymitra macrophylla) by its narrower leaf, smaller flowers, later flowering period and swampy, rather than upland habitat. It often grows near to Southern Forest Sun Orchid (T. sp. ‘late forests’) but is usually shorter in stature and occupies different habitat.
