West Arthur to Jerramungup, growing in rocky clay soil in shrublands.

Description

A rarely seen species 100–300 mm high with a broad, smooth leaf 50–100 mm long by 20–30 mm wide which is often shrivelled at the time of flowering and up to seven orange and yellow, cinnamon-scented flowers 30–40 mm across.

Distinguishing Features

It is distinguished from the similar York Sun Orchid (Thelymitra yorkensis) by its generally more apically crowded, darker orange and yellow flowers. From the related Star Sun Orchid (T. stellata) it is distinguished in having fewer, less prominently blotched flowers.
