A pest is generally known as an organism that causes damage to the crop such as insects, mites, rodents or birds. Nematodes are generally classified as pests by scientists, while farmers may consider them as soil-borne disease. In phrases such as 'integrated pest management' and 'pest control', the term is used in a broader sense to mean all harmful organisms including fungi, bacteria, viruses and virus-like organisms.
