Annual forb to 25cm tall. Leaves alternating up the stems, linear to flat, 0.8-2.5cm long, 1-2.5mm wide, upper surface sparsely hairy, lower surface woolly, margins curved down, tips pointed. Flowers yellow, with 0 petals. Flower heads cup-shaped, borne singly at the ends of the stems.

Differs from Leptorhynchos baileyi in that there are 4 bristles on the seeds, with tiny hairs along the bristles. This is easiest seen with a low power microscope.
