Annual forb. Leaves alternating up the stems, 1-3cm long, 5-20mm wide, flat, hairless to sparsely hairy. Male and female (and bisexual) flowers on the same plant. Flowers small (less than 3mm across), green, with 4 'petals', in clusters at the bases of the leaves. Lower clusters mostly female flowers, upper clusters with mixed male, female, and bisexual flowers. Vulnerable Vic.

Differs from Parietaria debilis in that the leaf-like bracts below the flower groups are heart-shaped.
