Little river snails

Class Gastropoda: Subclass Prosobranchia: Order Monotocardia.

There are three species (one genus) of river snails from coastal streams in northern Australia. Generally found on sandy bottoms, mangrove or estuarine mudflats. Revisionary work is needed on the Australian species. Some overseas species in this family live in wholly fresh water.
