Class Gastropoda: Subclass Prosobranchia: Order Monotocardia.

A family of mangrove, estuarine and brackish water snails, known from south and south-east Asia, Indonesia, Australasia and Japan, and recently recorded in Russia. The Australian fauna, (which consists of 6 species in 2 genera), is distributed around the northern and eastern coastline as far as Victoria.
