Class Gastropoda: Subclass Pulmonata: Order Basommatophora.

One of only two pulmonate families which carry an operculum (Glacidorbidae is the other). There are two Australian species in one genus, Salinator . They are often found in sheltered marine and related environments (mangrove, mud flat, sea grass flat, etc.). Amphibola occurs in similar habitats in New Zealand.
