Homocaligids are a family of mites from the Suborder Prostigmata of the Order Acariformes. All members of this family are associated with fresh water. They are morphologically striking animals, being almost perfectly hemispherical, strongly sclerotised, red, and possessing a pair of very large eye lenses. They walk about on the surface of standing waters.

In Australia there is at least one undescribed species of Annerosella (in prep., DEW); other species in this genus are found in South Africa and Malaysia (Krantz 1978). The diet of Annerosella is unknown.
