MM219999 The Mideopsidae is a family of water mites in the superfamily Arrenuroidea. In Australia there are five genera in four subfamilies. There is one Australian representative of the subfamily Guineaxonopsinae: Guineaxonopsis (1 sp., Tas, plus undescribed species from SE and NW Australia (Harvey 1998)). It can be differentiated from other mideopsids by the serrate ventral protuberance on the second palp segment. Guineaxonopsis has been collected only from interstitial substrates.
