The Omartacaridae is a family of water mites in the superfamily Hygrobatoidea. It is represented in Australia by the genus Omartacaru (5 spp., Qld, Vic, Tas, and other undescribed species from eastern and northern Australia (Harvey 1998)).

Omartacarusspecies are easily recognised by their elongate bodies and triangular third coxae. They occur in running water, particulary in interstitial and hyporheic habitats.
