Small, stout, velvety bugs, 1-3 mm long, associated with marginal vegetation near fresh water or with stagnant pools. Antennae about as long or a little longer than the head, pronotum trapezoid with prominent 'shoulders'. Prominent bucculae (ridges) extend the length of head and the rostrum (labium) rests in a deep groove between them. Tarsi 2-segmented (the first segment minute). Pronotum and corium (when present) without deep puncture marks. Forewing without a costal fracture; the membrane, when present, without veins.
