Some beetle larvae (Order: Coleoptera, Families: Curculionidae and Brentidae) likewise are without jointed legs. These weevils could be mistaken for dipterans. The chief distinguishing feature of legless weevil larvae is that the body is curled, so that in lateral view the animal appears like a rather open capital letter C. Aquatic weevils, like all other weevils, are phytophagous. |
