Taxonomy
Family: Calliphoridae
Subfamily: Calliphorinae
Genus: Calliphora Robineau-Desvoidy 1830
Subgenus: Australocalliphora Kurahashi 1971
Species: fuscofemorata Malloch 1927
The immature stages are unknown.
Biology
Calliphora fuscofemorata, especially the female, is reportedly attracted to carrion in high abundance (Hardy 1937). However, Wallman et al. (2005) suggested that this behaviour might be associated with feeding, rather than oviposition. Although at this point still assumed to be a carrion-breeder, this species could be a parasitoid of other invertebrates, like its close relatives Onesia tibialis and Calliphora sternalis sternalis (Wallman et al. 2005).
Distribution
This species is only known from far north Queensland, where it is probably confined to rainforest areas (Hardy 1937).
