Taxonomy
Family: Calliphoridae
Subfamily: Luciliinae
Genus: Hemipyrellia Townsend 1918
Species: fergusoni Patton 1925
The immature stages are unknown.
Biology
Little is known of
the biology of Hemipyrellia fergusoni, although it is readily attracted to carrion baits. It is
probably locally common in favourable environments, and
seems to prefer dense coastal scrub. Hardy (1940)
collected pupae of the species from beneath a
dead bird.
Distribution
Hemipyrellia
fergusoni has been recorded from coastal New
South Wales and southern Queensland.
