Taxonomy
Family: Calliphoridae
Subfamily: Luciliinae
Genus: Lucilia Robineau-Desvoidy 1830
Species: porphyrina (Walker 1850)
The third-instar larva was described by Erzinçlioglu (1984).
Biology
Lucilia
porphyrina is a forest inhabitant, with the adults
attracted to decaying animal matter. The present authors
have captured the species in traps baited
with sheep's liver and sodium sulphide. Suenega and
Kurahashi (1995) and Tumrasvin et al. (1977) have
investigated the life history of L. porphyrina.
Distribution
The species
occurs in New South Wales and Queensland.
