Biology
Sarcophaga ruficornis
breeds in both faeces and carrion, and has been caught at
decayed carrion-baits, rabbit, fish, liver and chicken
baits (Das and Dasgupta,
1982; Amoudi et al. 1994; Bänziger and Pape 2004;
Shazia et al., 2006; Hanan, 2010). It has been
reported to cause myiasis in dogs, horses, mules and
leprosy patients (Sreevatsa et al., 1990; Amoudi et
al. 1994). It is also a documented parasite of the
toad, Bufo melanostictus (Roy and Dasgupta,
1977).
