Elytral Disc Pubescence

Locating the elytral disc

The elytra are the two large sclerites posterior to the pronotum, which cover the wings. The elytral disc excludes the marginal area of each elytron.

Elytral disc pubescence

There are two states

  1. setae absent or at most minute and sparse (Figure 2A)

  2. closely setose, the setae white and recumbent (Figure 2B)
