The hind tibia is the middle segment of the hind leg (Fig. 1).

The shape of the hind tibia

Expanded, as broad as or broader than femur, with the apex not lobed beyond the base of the tarsus (Fig. 2A).

Not expanded, narrower than femur, apex lobed beyond insertion point of tarsus, with the tibial spurs on the tip of this lobe (Fig. 2B).

Not expanded, narrower than femur, apex not lobed, tibial spurs arising near the base of tarsus (Fig. 2C).
