Differs from all other species of tateid in the GAB (and in Australia) in having a prominent, flange-like keel on the periphery together with a low spire.

Type locality: In the main spring, Yowah Creek Springs, on Bundoona Station about 36 km NW of Eulo, SW Queensland. Lives in the very shallow spring outflow in coarse sediment.
Lives in clean, rather coarse sediment in a very shallow spring outflow which has well oxygenated, clean water and coarse sediment. Lives with E. spirula.
Found only in one of the Yowah Creek Springs, on Bundoona Station about 36 km NW of Eulo, southwest Queensland.
