Gabbia napierensis Ponder, 2003

Diagnostic features

Gabbia napierensis has a narrow thickened callus behind the inner lip that covers the umbilical chink, a feature not seen in any other Australian bithyniid.

Type locality: Barnet Cave, northwest end of Napier Range, southwest facing side of Range, Kimberley, Western Australia.

Biology and ecology

This species occurs mainly in pools in creek beds, and occasionally in water flowing from caves.

Distribution

Kimberley, northern Western Australia.
